What kind of time involvement are you looking for?
Since we are a volunteer organization, it all depends on you. We strongly recommend attending the 10 meetings per year, but signing up for events is based on your availability.
Do you carry weapons?
No we do not. Members do not have arrest powers nor are they allowed to carry weapons. Members are, however, trained in the use of O.C. Spray (pepper spray) and are authorized to use it for self-defense.
Do I need to live in West Bend to join?
Absolutely not. We have members from Jackson and Kewaskum. There is no residency requirement.
Do I need to supply my own equipment?
No. The Patrol provides your whistle, flashlight and badge. Radios are provided for Patrol activities only and remain at the Police Department when not in use.
Strict inventory control of equipment is necessary, with a badge affidavit signed upon issuance of the
badge.
